Lenten Quiet Day
The Cathedral Daughters of the King hosted a Lenten Quiet Day on Saturday, April 2nd. The day started with Holy Eucharist, a light breakfast and then all entered into quiet for the morning. Dean Collum led three short meditations that led to time for reflection, allowing God to speak to each person in attendance. The theme of the day was Growing Closer to God through Jesus. The meditations reflected on Jesus’ passion and resurrection through the eyes of Mary Magdalene. For more information on the Cathedral Daughters of the King, please contact the Cathedral Office.

The Sunday School approached Dean Collum with an idea, “Can we wear jeans next Sunday to raise money for Japan?”
Their idea was to invite everyone to wear jeans to the Cathedral as a way of showing solidarity with the people of Japan, and in the process to make a donation for the effort. While people can wear jeans to Sunday services, many don’t.
On Sunday, March 20th, people flocked into the Cathedral in jeans and a local station (YNN) was present to report the kids idea. However it did not stop there! Following the airing of the report on YNN, Albany ProMuscia, who was performing a concert the following week on March 27, invited us to extend the “Jeans for Japan” initiative. In all, over $2,000 was raised - thanks to the vision of our children and their Sunday School teachers.

On March 13, 2011 The Cathedral of All Saints had the honor of hosting The Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church. The Most Reverend Dr. Katharine Jefferts Schori visited the Diocese from March 10 through March 13. This was Bishop Katharine's first visit to the Diocese, and it included learning about who we are as well as meeting many people. Her visit culminated in the Sunday Cathedral Eucharist where Bishop Katharine celebrated and preached and was joined by Bishop Love and the retired Bishop's Ball and Herzog. The Dean, Cathedral Staff and Congregation are grateful for her visit.

The Cathedral Choir of Men and Boys residency at Hereford Cathedral, Evensong at Gloucester Cathedral, and special Friday night "All Saints Boychoir Concert" were a spectacular success! The time spent there will be a treasured memory for all, especially for two choristers who received their red ribbons from The Very Reverend Michael Tavinor, Dean of Hereford Cathedral. Joining the boys of the choir and our Choir Master were four of our own Gentlemen of the Choir, our Lloyd Cast Organ Fellow, former All Saints choristers, and some of Englands finest voices as guest Gentlemen of the Choir.

The Annual Parish Leadership Conference was hosted at The Cathedral of All Saints on January 15th with approximately 180 people attending. The Spiritual Life Center provided food and other support throughout the day.
Mr. Whitney T. Kuniholm, President of Scripture Union, USA spoke on the importance of reading Scripture. Through several engaging talks, with story and humor, Mr. Kuniholm explored why we might read the Bible, and talked about how to do so without feeling guilty when, despite our best efforts, we at times don't. A method of doing a "community read" of the Bible was presented entitled E100. You can find out more information on E100 on the Event Calendar.
